Dennis Webster
Candidate for Town Moderator
After a 23-year career in the Army, I married a Jamestown girl and moved to Mount Hope Avenue in 1995. In the years since I’ve served on the Planning Commission, the Harbor Management Commission, and, from 1998 to 2002, as Chair of the Quonset-Davisville Liaison Committee, closely following the proposed container port proposal and advising the Town Council on a port’s potential impact on Jamestown. With Jamestown’s Arnold-Zweir Post of the American Legion I’ve been active in planning the Memorial Day Parade and the flag displays at Veterans Memorial Square and served as Post Commander for three years. I’m active with the Jamestown Historical Society, and have been a member of the Democratic Town Committee for over twenty years.
If elected as Town Moderator, I look forward to presiding over annual Financial Town Meetings that are marked by fairness and civility, as voters of the Town make the final decisions on the amount of their taxes, and how that tax money will be spent. I look forward to following in the footsteps of current Moderator John Murphy, and previous Town Moderators who have guided Town Meetings for more than 300 years.
