Sharon Rallis
Candidate for School Committee
Forty eight years ago, my husband and I made Jamestown our home and cannot imagine living anywhere else. Our daughter was born here and graduated from NKHS. Our granddaughter is now a student at Melrose. In 1983 I was elected to serve on the school committee and was re-elected for a second term. During those years we secured the support of the town to build the then much-needed Melrose School and remodel Lawn School.
My professional career has always been centered in education: I have taught every grade and taken on leadership roles. After earning my Doctor of Education from Harvard University, I turned to research and evaluation to explore which practices improve student learning and how policies affect what happens in schools. As a professor and evaluation specialist, my work has taken me to schools and education departments throughout the United States and the world: researching program effectiveness; teaching faculty and school administrators; advising education policy makers. What I learned from these experiences is immeasurable.
I care deeply about education and Jamestown’s teachers and children. Now retired, I want to contribute again to this wonderful community that I am fortunate to be a part of. I look forward to the opportunity to give back by serving on our school committee.
