As the official organization of the Democratic Party in Jamestown RI, the Jamestown Democratic Town Committee (JDTC) represents and honors the values that have emboldened the Democratic Party for over a century. We strive to ensure
OUR MISSION, first and foremost, is to elect Democrats to state, local and federal offices. In so doing we hope to influence the priorities of local leaders in the spirit of the principles of the Democratic Party. We hope to increase voter participation by informing the community about issues and policies.
The JDTC consists of regular members who are elected to two-year terms by voters at the Democratic primary, held on the first Tuesday in September of even years. It also includes associate members who are elected by the regular members at any time during the two-year term. Associates can participate in JDTC meetings and serve on committees. Officers of the JDTC must be regular members.
The JDTC meets on the second Monday of each month (in non-election years meetings are held Jan. – June and Sept. – Dec.) For more information contact Co-Chairs Deb Ruggiero or Melody Drnach.
As members of Jamestown’s Democratic Town Committee but more importantly as citizens of Jamestown and members of this community, we believe government “of the people, by the people and for the people” is the instrument that enables us to live together. As citizens who vote, we establish the rules by which we live together on this island and the services necessary for our community to thrive. We elect leaders responsible for ensuring that those rules and services are fairly and efficiently applied.
