Christian Cowan
School Committee
When I moved to Jamestown 17 years ago with my wife Kelly my son Sam was about to start kindergarten and Ben was just a toddler. The school system was a big reason we moved to town. We were not disappointed with our experience. I was very involved with the schools while my sons attended and I loved all those opportunities to volunteer and work with kids whether as a member of the Jamestown Soccer Association or the Lawn School Robotics program and Jamestown Educational Foundation. Both of my sons then attended North Kingstown High School and I was asked to join the Career and Technical Education Board. I witnessed that program grow dramatically during my tenure.
STEM based education is important to me personally, but, through my kids, I also saw the importance of the arts. I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve on the Jamestown School Committee with this background and focus. The committee serves an important function in developing the critical education and training of our children and our future. I will do my best to support our schools as we keep the focus on the kids.
