NO CUTS TO HEALTH CARE

This rally is hosted by 1199 SEIUY Rhode Island. The US healthcare system is under attack as the Trump administration slashes spending for Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, beginning with deep staff cuts. Despite anticipated federal cuts, Governor McKee’s current state budget proposes $25 million in hospital cuts, failing to adequately fund community health clinics, and reducing nursing home staffing to unsafe levels. Rhode Island’s health care system was already in crisis, due to low reimbursement rates, a shortage of pediatricians and primary care doctors, and the closure of Anchor Medical Associates, which will leave low-income Rhode Islanders without access to doctors. Rhode Islanders are urged to protest cutbacks in healthcare in our state and in the nation. Tell Governor McKee we need a transformative healthcare budget that protects and invests in Medicaid and raises revenue through taxes on the wealthiest. Insist our elected officials in Rhode Island and in Washington saying no to cuts in Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
